Plans for a Hiatus

Adele has revealed her intention to take an extended break from music after completing her current concert commitments. Speaking to German broadcaster ZDF ahead of her 10 date residency in Munich, the singer expressed her exhaustion. "My tank is quite empty at the minute," she admitted. "I don’t have any plans for new music at all. I want a big break after all this and I think I want to do other creative things just for a little while. You know, I don’t even sing at home at all. How strange is that?"

Two Years in Las Vegas

Since releasing her last album in 2021, Adele has been engaged in a weekend residency at Las Vegas' Caesar's Palace, recently marking her 90th show at the 4,000 capacity venue. Although the residency is set to conclude in November, the singer described the experience as emotionally draining. "Even though it's a very manageable size of crowd, it's really been an emotional exchange," she said. "I'm sure I'll feel even more like [that] every night after the shows in Munich. But it's a positive thing. It's just such an exchange of energy."

Challenges on Stage

Not every concert has been smooth sailing. In June, Adele faced a disruptive audience member who shouted "Pride sucks" during one of her shows. Adele's response was swift and stern, instructing the individual to "shut up" if they had nothing nice to say. Reflecting on the incident, Adele acknowledged her quick temper, humorously stating, "Everything makes me angry. Absolutely everything. I'm 36 years old. I'm old and grumpy now."

Munich Residency and Unique Venue

Adele's upcoming Munich shows promise a significantly larger scale than her Las Vegas residency, with 74,000 fans expected each night in a specially built "pop up" stadium. The venue will feature an "Adele experience," including an English pub, a stage for a cover band, and stalls offering specially designed cocktails. Additionally, organizers aim to set a Guinness World Record for the largest outdoor screen, measuring 220 meters in length. Adele shared her excitement on Instagram, calling the setup "bloody exciting" and noting that the video installation would enhance the experience for fans. "They just want to see your face and know it's you, so the screens are enormous."

Ticket Sales and Prices

The Munich residency is yet to sell out, with 5% of tickets still available, according to German press agency DPA. Promoter Marek Lieberberg noted that the remaining tickets are mostly at the upper and lower ends of the price spectrum, ranging from €79 (£66) to €430 (£360).

Struggles with Fame

Despite her success, Adele admitted that the pressures of fame contribute to her desire for a break. "I miss everything about before I was famous, I think probably being anonymous the most," she confessed. While she appreciates the opportunity to create and share her music, the fame aspect remains challenging. "The fact that people are even interested in my songs and my voice is pretty wild. I don't think it ever gets normal. So it's worth it, the balance."
