“Artists Touched by Addiction” Has a Strong Influence at Spectrum Health Services

Worcester, Massachusetts – Positivity impact on the healing process to spread a message, Spectrum Health Systems reflects on the conveyance of their recent art insertion. All of the paintings were attacked on their wall to understand the meaning of addiction.


“I have a very close family member who had an addiction problem for many years,” said artist Ella Delyanis. “Luckily that person is now in a sustained recovery and doing very well which I’m very happy about,”


Delyanis painted one of the art scenes had recently attached in the Main Street facility as part of the art gallery, “Artists Touched by Addiction.” Delyanis is aiming for her craft to make an impact to help people to receive the proper treatment.


“Art is uplifting for most of us,” said Delyanis. “I’m hoping that whatever art is here serves that purpose. That it’s optimistic and forward-looking for people.”


Spectrum Health Services joined with Juniper Rag on the resourcefulness. Juniper Rag is an organization seeking for local artists to show their work. Co-founder Michelle May explained that there are healing standards to art, and she wishes those qualities would be disclosed.


"Even spending one moment at art can lower your blood pressure and make you feel better," said May. "And hopefully the statement will elevate that feeling a little more."


Pieces from over a dozen artists would be forevermore attached inside of the location. Near the individual is a page with the artists’ framework, and their story encompassing addiction.


Program Director Alexa Burnham said patients are recently engaging in the battleground of the art. 


"I'm hoping over time as they can read the artists' bios, that they can understand that this is more than just buying artwork because we liked it," Burnham said. "It's because we liked it, and there's meaningful stories behind it that they can connect with."


The message of Spectrum Health would be important role in healing process from addiction to find hope.


“Hopefully, folks can maybe explore another part of themselves to get their creative side out to hopefully think about different ways to help them recover,” said Burnham.
