Barclays customers are grappling with a second consecutive day of significant disruptions due to a persistent IT outage. The technical glitch, which began on Friday morning, has left many unable to access their accounts or view accurate balances, causing widespread frustration and inconvenience.

The timing of this outage has been particularly problematic. It is coinciding with the end-of-month payday for numerous individuals and the deadline for self-assessment tax returns. Many customers have reported difficulties in making essential payments and meeting financial obligations. "I rely on my Barclays app for all my banking needs. Being locked out for two days has caused me significant stress, especially with bills due," One affected individuals expressed her frustration.

In response to the mounting complaints, Barclays has issued an apology, acknowledging the "intermittent errors" in their payment systems. The bank has assured customers that they are working diligently to resolve the issue and that no one will suffer financial loss due to the outage. They have also been in contact with HM Revenue and Customs to ensure that customers are not penalized for delayed tax payments resulting from the disruption.

Despite these assurances, the prolonged nature of the outage has led to increased scrutiny of Barclays' technological infrastructure. Customers have taken to social media to voice their concerns, with some questioning the bank's preparedness and resilience against such technical failures. A financial analyst commented, "This incident highlights the critical importance of robust IT systems in banking. Prolonged outages can erode customer trust and have long-term reputational impacts."

As the situation unfolds, Barclays customers are advised to monitor official communications from the bank for updates. In the meantime, those affected are encouraged to document any issues experienced during the outage and reach out to Barclays' customer service for assistance and potential compensation.
