President Joe Biden has reaffirmed his intention to remain the Democratic nominee for the 2024 election, addressing concerns about his age and mental fitness. In a letter to congressional Democrats, Biden, who at 81 is the oldest sitting president in U.S. history, emphasized his commitment to the campaign and a potential second term.

He also made a live phone call to MSNBC's "Morning Joe" to dismiss calls for his withdrawal, asserting his confidence in his political instincts and the support of average voters. Biden responded to public and private urgings from some Democrats to step aside. Five House Democrats have publicly suggested he should not run, and four top committee leaders expressed similar sentiments in a private call. Despite this, Biden remains steadfast, stating he believes he is the best candidate to defeat Donald Trump in 2024.

During his MSNBC interview, Biden expressed his belief that voters would not turn away from him and criticized those who have called for his exit, describing them as "elites" who have been wrong in the past. He also attacked Trump, labeling him a "liar" and warning of the dangers he poses to democracy and women's rights.

Senator John Fetterman of Pennsylvania defended Biden, praising his performance at recent campaign events. Fetterman highlighted Biden's engagement and effectiveness during their appearances together.

In his letter, Biden acknowledged the concerns within his party but reaffirmed his determination to continue his campaign and ultimately defeat Trump. Despite past incidents that raised questions about his readiness, Biden remains resolute in his pursuit of reelection.
