Brad Pitt has returned to the British Grand Prix to continue filming his highly anticipated Formula 1 movie. The film, co produced by seven time world champion Lewis Hamilton, is slated for release on June 25, 2025.
Extensive shooting has already occurred at the Silverstone Circuit, including at last year’s British Grand Prix. Pitt, 60, has been spotted again at the Northamptonshire track, donning the racing suit of the fictional “APX GP” team. In the film, Pitt portrays veteran driver Sonny Hayes, making a comeback to the F1 grid after a prolonged absence.
Hamilton has been deeply involved in the script to ensure the film’s authenticity. "We want everyone to love it and to really feel that we encapsulate what the essence of this sport is all about," Hamilton stated last year.
Apple has acquired the rights to the movie, which boasts a budget estimated at $140 million (£125 million). The film is directed by Joseph Kosinski, known for his work on Top Gun: Maverick. The cast includes Oscar winner Javier Bardem as the team principal and British actor Damson Idris as Pitt’s teammate.
F1 has hailed the film, shot in real time during Grands Prix, as a "landmark for the sport." Motorsport enthusiasts have been gathering at Silverstone for this Sunday’s British Grand Prix, eager to catch a glimpse of the production.
