Brighton & Hove Albion have secured the signing of Turkish full back Ferdi Kadioglu from Fenerbahce in a deal worth £25 million, with an additional £4.2 million in potential add ons. The 24 year old defender has agreed to a four year contract with the club, becoming the eighth addition to head coach Fabian Hurzeler’s squad this summer.
Expressing his enthusiasm for the signing, Hurzeler highlighted Kadioglu's exceptional talent and strong character. "I’m thrilled because we’ve signed not only an outstanding player but also a person of great integrity," the coach commented. "His technical ability is remarkable, he's a powerful runner, and his passing is highly effective."
Kadioglu, who was born in the Netherlands, began his professional career in the Eredivisie with NEC Nijmegen before making a move to Fenerbahce in 2018. Over the course of his time at the Turkish club, he made more than 200 appearances, scoring 18 goals. His impressive performances earned him 20 caps for the Turkish national team, where he played a pivotal role, featuring in every minute of their Euro 2024 campaign, which saw them reach the quarter finals in Germany this past July.
Kadioglu’s versatility and experience on the international stage, combined with his dynamic playstyle, make him a valuable asset to Brighton as they continue to bolster their squad ahead of the upcoming season. His arrival adds further depth to Hurzeler’s defensive options and represents another statement of intent from the club as they build a team capable of competing at the highest level.
