council leader Darren Rodwell has been removed from the list of election candidates being approved today by Labour's National Executive Committee. An internal investigation into allegations concerning Mr. Rodwell is currently ongoing, according to the BBC. The NEC is expected to decide within the next 48 hours who will be Labour’s candidate for the seat. Darren Rodwell has been contacted for comment.

In related news, the BBC reported on Monday that in 2022, Mr. Rodwell allegedly instructed police not to respond if contacted by a resident he planned to confront at their home. He also claimed to have used official systems to locate the address of an individual who had threatened him online. This incident reportedly stemmed from the creation of a Facebook page aimed at "having him taken out."

Mr. Rodwell recounted on the Mishcon De Reya's "Property. She" podcast that he had approached the police, who informed him that the threat was not direct. He admitted to finding the individual's address through unspecified means and notifying the police that he planned to visit the person to question them about the Facebook page.

Additionally, Mr. Rodwell described a separate incident where he chased two men with a baseball bat after they attacked his home. The Data Protection Act imposes strict regulations on obtaining personal details, including within local government. Both Mr. Rodwell, Labour, and the Metropolitan Police declined to comment on these claims. Responding to separate allegations reported by the Independent, which the BBC has not verified, Mr. Rodwell stated that he refuted them entirely and was seeking legal advice.
