Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr expressed "concern" over superstar Stephen Curry's injury during the team's 112-104 loss to the LA Clippers. The 36 year old, who has a history of ankle issues, initially exited in the third quarter with a twisted ankle and received treatment before briefly returning in the fourth. However, Curry quickly aggravated the injury and was escorted to the locker room by teammate Gary Payton.
"He's doing OK and described it as 'mild' or 'moderate,'" Kerr noted. "Though he’s sprained that ankle many times before, he feels it isn’t too serious, but we’re still concerned."
Curry, a two-time MVP, scored 18 points before exiting as the Warriors suffered their first loss of the season. Clippers' Ivica Zubac and James Harden led their team, each scoring 23 points, with Zubac also adding 17 rebounds and six assists in his second consecutive double double. "Every time they needed a bucket, Zubac delivered," Kerr remarked.
In other NBA action, the Boston Celtics topped the Detroit Pistons 124-118, while the San Antonio Spurs edged past the Houston Rockets 109-106. Meanwhile, the Miami Heat defeated the Charlotte Hornets 114-106, celebrating with a statue unveiling for franchise icon Dwyane Wade, who, at 42, remains the Heat’s all time leading scorer and a three time NBA champion.
