On Tuesday, Russian guided bombs killed two civilians in Toretsk, an eastern Ukrainian city, and caused significant damage to two apartment buildings, according to Donetsk regional Governor Vadym Filashkin. Filashkin, posting on the Telegram messaging app, reported that Russian forces deployed three bombs in the city, which is situated north of the Russian occupied regional center of Donetsk. Rescue teams are on site to assess casualties.
Photographs shared by Filashkin and Donetsk regional prosecutors depict extensive damage, with entire sections of the apartment buildings destroyed and debris scattered across the street. Additionally, the Donetsk prosecutors reported that a Russian guided bomb injured six people in Oleksievo Druzhkivka, a town northwest of Toretsk.
In a related incident, the governor of the southern Kherson region reported that Russian shelling killed a resident of a village north of the region's main administrative center, Kherson. Prosecutors also noted that Russian shelling struck port facilities in the Black Sea city of Odesa. Russia continues to deny targeting civilian infrastructure, actions which could be classified as war crimes.
Ukraine's military General Staff stated that Russian forces had launched 25 assaults and were attempting to establish fire control along the entire 1,200 km (750 mile) front line. The most intense fighting was reported in the Pokrovsk sector, northwest of Donetsk.
Meanwhile, the Ukrainian military released photos of an attack on Monday targeting an airfield with a radar installation in the Russian held city of Luhansk in the northeast. Russia installed officials confirmed two attacks in Luhansk within three hours on Monday but did not mention any airfield or military installations, nor did they report any casualties or damage. Reuters was unable to independently verify battlefield reports from either side.
