Worcester, Massachusetts — Since, Monday (February 18) it has been cold and windy weather during the February Vacation, however, families embraced the winter season and took an opportunity to enjoy winter activities.
It was a bright day on Tuesday. I had been addicted to no school for the entire week. Chris Simpson explained about spending quality time learning how to ski.
“It’s a great place to learn. A lot of great beginner terrain, really mellow slopes that are not too intimidating for beginners,” said Stimpson. “We do push it during vacation week if you want to come out and try to learn, it’s a great time.”
Above at Wachusett mountain, Stimpson explained that the latest snow arrived at the right time to provide people to start the slopes.
“We got about six inches of snow last week before it turned into that crazy freezing rain and wind, but that's all over now," said Stimpson. "It's a beautiful sunny day here during February Vacation. Tons of fun stuff happening at the mountain. We got family friendly events every day of the week, so it's a good day to be up here.”
And for those seeking to observe something new indoors, Katie Chappell reported about Worcester’s EcoTarium brought hundreds of families for “Prehistoric Planet Vacation Week.”
“All during vacation week, you can come learn, ‘How did our planet come to be?’. We do programs 3 to 4 times throughout the day,” said Chappell. “So come do storytime, learn about dino breath, and how you can track dinosaurs in your own neighborhood.”
Both the science and nature museum, as well as the local ski, became great decisions for the February Vacation.
“Most days we have about a thousand people that visit,” said Chappell. “And it’s so great to see all the families from throughout Central Mass come and have an amazing time together.
“Might as well enjoy winter in New England,” said Stimpson. “If you’re going to have to live through it anyway.”
As the February vacation is coming to an end, the EcoTarium made an announcement exposing a special event for their 200th Anniversary Celebration on Friday, February 21.
