The family of 14-year-old Giorgia Green, who tragically died in May 2022 after being in cardiac arrest caused by inhaling aerosol deodorant, has since been working hard to raise awareness of the dangers that come along with such products. Their efforts, organized under the campaign Bee Angels, have reached thousands.

Honoring Giorgia's Memory

Her parents and friends initiated a campaign called Bee Angels to spread awareness on the dangers of aerosol inhalation. Its name is derived from Giorgia's passion for bees, hence a memorial for her and all others who have died in similar ways.

The family has organized two roller-skating events, with a second annual Christmas crafting event under way. Giorgia's father, Paul Green, labeled the crafting event a fitting tribute, considering Giorgia's creativity.

"Last year's event was a great success," he said. "People found it wonderful to come together, create, and remember Giorgia."

Open Invitation to the Community

This year’s event will take place on November 30, from 1:00 to 5:00 PM GMT at Spondon Old School. The family encourages everyone to attend, especially those unfamiliar with their campaign.

“We’d love for people who don’t know us to join in,” Mr. Green said. “Our goal is to reach as many people as possible—not just friends and family.”

Raising Awareness About a Hidden Danger

Mr. Green said that the majority of people do not know the dangerous side of aerosol deodorants. "Every single person we speak to is absolutely astonished to hear it," he said. "People can't believe they have lived their whole lives and never knew."

The Bee Angels campaign has joined hands to make people aware to avoid such incidents. The family is open to working with any other group that wants to help deliver this message.

"We're open to anyone who can help us raise awareness," Mr. Green said. "If we can educate more people, they'll be in a better position to look after themselves and their loved ones."
