A Surreal Rise to Fame

Peggy, once dubbed Britain's "ugliest" dog, has experienced a transformation nothing short of extraordinary. This five year old pugese, a cross between a pug and a Chinese crested, captured hearts and headlines when she won a national contest for the ugliest pooch. Little did her owner, Holly Middleton from East Yorkshire, know that this victory would propel Peggy into the limelight. "Not in my wildest dreams did I think anything like that would ever happen," Middleton reflected, describing the journey as "surreal."

Peggy's newfound fame led to her being cast as "Dogpool" in the latest Marvel superhero film, Deadpool & Wolverine, starring alongside A listers Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman. Despite her rising stardom and a massive fan base, Peggy remains down to earth at home. Middleton noted that while Peggy has gained some confidence from her time on set, she still displays none of the typical "diva behavior." The usually reserved and lazy dog has adapted well to her newfound fame, thanks to the trainer who looked after her during filming.

Hollywood Debut and Life at Home

Peggy's Hollywood debut was nothing short of spectacular. Watching her walk the red carpet in New York and be embraced by stars like Ryan Reynolds was a surreal experience for Middleton. "I loved it. Peggy looked really comfortable the entire time, as probably most people would being cuddled by Ryan Reynolds," she shared. The affection shown by the cast members, who were seen kissing and cuddling Peggy, highlighted how well she was received in the film industry.

Despite her global recognition, Peggy remains a beloved family pet. Middleton emphasized that Peggy enjoys the simple pleasures of life, such as cuddling on the couch or snuggling in her bed. The family had missed her terribly during her time away filming, particularly her two sons, who were kept in the dark about her Hollywood adventures. Now back at home, Peggy has resumed her role as a cherished companion.

The public's perception of Peggy has also shifted dramatically. Initially, her unusual appearance drew whispers and puzzled looks. However, since her rise to fame, the narrative has changed. Online comments are overwhelmingly positive, celebrating Peggy's unique charm. Middleton remarked on how people's views have evolved, noting, "Before all of this, just the way she looks she would get attention, but it was usually people sort of nudging each other and whispering, 'Oh, what's wrong with that dog'. So since everything's happened, the public perception of Peggy, and whether she's beautiful, ugly, or whatever has definitely changed for the better."

While there are no current plans for future film roles, Peggy is content with the attention she receives and continues to turn heads during her walks in the village. Her story is a testament to how perceptions can change and how even the most unlikely candidates can achieve stardom.
