Worcester, Massachusetts — A Holiday occasion in Worcester was occupied at the Union Station with handmade decorations and creativity on Sunday, December 8 for the “stART” at the Station” event. In its 17th annual, over 100 vendors recently arranged holiday goods, stained glass, painting, and other crafts.

Co-founders Tina Zlody and Stacy Lord reported the important role of this event for the small businesses in Worcester as people develop their shopping lists this holiday season.

“Any time you’re supporting a small business with local artists and area artists, it’s really important to the local economy,” said Zlody. “We don’t need to spend money at Amazon, you need to spend money here, and that way you’re keeping the local economy going and that’s the most important thing.”

“It’s a beautiful space, Union Station is absolutely gorgeous,”  said Lord. “We’ve always liked holding our holiday event here because of the atmosphere.”

In Early 2024, the Organizers captured the 20th and last annual of “stART on the Street” festival on Park Avenue in Worcester after facing issues with volunteers and the price of hosting the holiday occasion.

Spectrum News Worcester stated that “while the future of ‘stART at the Station’ remains up in the air, Zlody told Spectrum News 1 in August 2024 she plans to offer consulting services in event planning and management while continuing her directorship at the Worcester Public Market’s Market Pantry Store. Lord and co-director Laura Marotta are opening the ’Creative Hub Worcester Community Arts Center’ at 2 Ionic Avenue, and a groundbreaking ceremony was held in October.”
