A concert by Irish musician Hozier has been canceled due to flooding. The event, which was slated for Tuesday evening at Chepstow Racecourse in Monmouthshire, was called off by organizers who stated they had "no other option" but to cancel the show.
"This decision was extremely difficult for us, especially knowing that many of you planned your travels around the tour schedule," they said.
The "Take Me to Church" singer expressed his disappointment, saying he was "absolutely gutted" by the news and assured fans that refunds would be issued.
The gig, part of the venue's Summer Sessions series, was set to follow recent performances by Shania Twain and Tom Jones. Hozier, whose latest single "Too Sweet" topped the charts in both the US and UK, extended his "sincere apologies" to ticket holders. "I hope we can do it again, Chepstow," he added.
Organizers cited persistent heavy rainfall as the cause of the cancellation, noting that ground conditions left them with no alternative. Despite efforts to drain the water and take corrective measures, continuous rain thwarted these efforts. Rescheduling was not feasible due to existing schedule commitments, and tickets will be refunded at the point of purchase.
