A festival celebrating India's rich heritage has been praised for promoting cohesion, according to its organizer. On Sunday, the second Indian Cultural Festival attracted hundreds of attendees to the comedy carpet in front of Blackpool Tower.
The free event, organized by the Fylde Coast Hindu Society and supported by Blackpool Council, featured dance performances, yoga sessions, and henna art. Chirag Khajuria, chairman of the Fylde Coast Hindu Society, expressed hope that the festival would become an annual tradition.
Founded 25 years ago, the Fylde Coast Hindu Society aims to foster community spirit. Mr. Khajuria, who spearheaded the festival, emphasized its inclusive nature, stating, "It was designed for everyone to come together."
He noted that individuals from "all nationalities and all faiths" united at the event, which contributed to its special atmosphere. Looking ahead, Mr. Khajuria aims to secure funding to expand the festival's success in 2025, making it "even bigger and better."
