Singer Jessie J has disclosed her diagnosis with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and obsessive compulsive disorder , which she received three months ago. The 36 year old artist shared on Instagram that these diagnoses have caused her to reassess her entire life.


Jessie J described ADHD as feeling like a "superpower" when viewed from the right perspective. According to the NHS, ADHD is a condition affecting behavior, often leading to restlessness, difficulty concentrating, and impulsivity. OCD, also defined by the NHS, involves obsessive thoughts and compulsive behaviors.


Jessica Cornish, known professionally as Jessie J, noted that motherhood had brought her conditions to light. Her son, Sky Safir Cornish Colman, was born last year. She expressed that while she sometimes felt unable to discuss her conditions, she is now openly addressing them. She mentioned that many people had previously suspected her diagnoses, which she found somewhat comforting as it made her conditions feel less daunting.


Jessie J, who is also known for hits such as "Domino," shared that she has always felt different and experienced things uniquely. She emphasized the broad spectrum of ADHD and expressed a belief that it can be viewed as a superpower with the right perspective and support.


She highlighted the positive role of social media in helping her connect with others facing similar challenges. Jessie J expressed her ongoing commitment to being honest about her life journey and extended support to those going through similar experiences, acknowledging the need for mutual support.


Reflecting on her past, she mentioned her meticulous habits and reliance on lists to manage stress. Jessie J concluded by emphasizing that personal challenges do not define individuals but contribute to their growth and development into more complete versions of themselves.
