Kendall Jenner has shared insights into the challenges of the modeling industry in a frank new interview, revealing that the pressures of her career have occasionally left her "hysterically crying myself to sleep." The reality star and model, known for her work with prestigious brands like Chanel, Givenchy, and Marc Jacobs, discussed her experiences on YouTuber and influencer Emma Chamberlain’s podcast, Anything Goes.
Despite acknowledging her "extreme fortune" in her career and the "beautiful experiences" she has enjoyed, the 28 year old also admitted to feeling "overworked" and dealing with "cutthroat" individuals within the industry.
"I’m not going to sit here and say that I’ve had the toughest journey, but I have faced my own challenges, whether it’s being overworked or not getting a job that I would’ve really loved," Jenner said, noting these experiences sometimes make her feel "not enough." She added, "People in the industry can be really tough, blunt, or brutal."
Jenner, the second youngest member of the Kardashian Jenner family, recounted spending many nights away from her loved ones, often traveling alone as a teenager to foreign countries for extended periods. "It is very lonely. I’ve had really dark nights where I’ve been in random cities, hysterically crying myself to sleep because I haven’t been home in three months and I’ve been pretty much alone the entire time," she shared.
She also mentioned instances where work commitments prevented her from being present during significant events at home. "There have been many moments where I’ve questioned if it’s all worth it," she told Chamberlain.
Nevertheless, Jenner expressed gratitude for the opportunities her career has provided. "It’s a beautiful thing to be able to travel the world the way I have," she said. "I probably would’ve never traveled as extensively or met so many amazing people without this job. I feel very grateful for my experiences."
In recent years, the co founder of 818 Tequila, Kendall Jenner, has been candid about her lifelong struggle with anxiety.
“I don’t see why I shouldn’t be honest about it,” she told Vogue in June, during her cover appearance. "At this point in my career, I feel really stable and hopeful. But I’ve had a tough two months. I haven’t been myself, and my friends notice it. I’m more sad and anxious than usual."
"So, I’m not going to sit here and act like everything's perfect. That’s life I’m always going to experience these ups and downs. In past interviews, when asked about my mental state, I would say, ‘I’m great right now, but this is what I’ve dealt with’. Well, right now I’m actually in it.”
