Now, Liam's final social media posts have been revealed after his tragic death from falling off a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires. The 31-year-old former One Direction star - who became a sensation in 2010 after competing on The X Factor - died after falling from the third floor of an Argentine hotel on Wednesday.
In his final Snapchats, Payne posted an account of his life in Argentina: photos of meals and plans to play polo, and light-hearted remarks about his hair. Filmed over the days leading up to his death were his girlfriend, influencer Kate Cassidy. Cassidy had left Argentina a few days prior, on her way back to the U.S.
These videos were not taken from a hotel room but from the house of a friend, and Payne was quick to point out that they were staying at "their lovely friend Gon's house." One clip jokingly attacked Cassidy for eating a late breakfast-1 p.m. local time. He then went on to describe how he would be playing polo soon, really exaggerating just how hard the game is. "Honestly, polo, from all the sports I have ever done, not that I am taking it up professionally, just for fun," Payne said, continuing, "It's just so hard to do first of all. Two, my back and neck just from swinging that hammer around. It's a lovely day here in Argentina."
Other posts included shots of the Argentine countryside from his friend's home, photos of the pair together, and even a video where Payne jokingly referred to his hair, saying, "I look like the Joker, my hair's a bit cray-cray." Payne shared the moment with Cassidy and their dog watching TV, asking for fans' help in captioning the scene.
According to police, Payne's body was discovered after an emergency call on Wednesday at the exclusive neighborhood of Palermo. Among the many different celebrities, Olly Murs and Dermot O'Leary paid tribute to the late Payne.
Earlier this week, it was reported that a cease-and-desist letter had been issued to Payne by his former partner, Maya Henry, over alleged misconduct.
