Worcester, Massachusetts — The Establishment of iLottery, an online installment of Massachusetts, became postponed to April 2026.
iLottery Employers reported that they determined to be an 18-month process to set up the program “up-and-running” after the legislation passed this past July. They are still waiting for financial distribution.
Meanwhile, they have arranged meetings with prospective vendors. Christian Teja, iLottery's Chief Officer, stated in an interview on Spectrum News that having their products online would allow participants to be more competitive with online sports gambling.
"Over the last several years, the gaming landscape has really changed” Teja reported. “We had the introduction of casinos and then we had the introduction of daily fantasy sports and now sports betting, both at the brick-and-mortar casino locations and on mobile applications. So, the lottery really is solely a cash business that was at retailers across the state. We needed to be able to be competitive and be in the same marketplace where people do all kinds of transactions on their phones and mobile devices right now. So, it's really getting to where our consumers are."
Teja reported that it would cost $2.5 million to arrange for the program to be established, however, once it provides the revenue, it would process its own.
