Stephanie Andrews, a German Teacher reported that there is a broader situation of underfunding in education across the state, she stated this issue: “The commonwealth needs to fund education. We live in a blue bubble and that's wonderful but our teachers have been underpaid for a long time. And this is a wave that's happening across the state and it does not need to be like this.”

“Budget projections indicate a deficit between $4 and $7 million in coming budget cycle. These figures are concerning and underscore the need to remain fiscally responsible," Gloucester Mayor Greg Verga stated.

This is really hard on students, really hard on parents. We have been in touch with all involved on this on both sides and just have strongly encouraged people to work to resolve this as quickly as possible so our young people can be back in school,” Massachusetts Governor Maura Healy stated.
