Matt Dillon takes center stage in MCM’s fall campaign, "From München to Mars," which draws inspiration from the German brand’s archives and the red planet. “We were honored he said yes,” said Sung Joo Kim, MCM’s owner and chief visionary officer. “Matt Dillon is not only highly professional and wonderful to work with, but he also embodies MCM’s spirit as a 21st century maverick."
Kim emphasized MCM’s aim for agelessness, seeking to represent an attitude and state of mind rather than a specific age group. Hollywood’s fascination with space travel, seen in films like Stanley Kubrick’s “Contact” and Christopher Nolan’s “Interstellar,” influenced Kim due to their themes of pushing boundaries.
Dillon, known for films such as “Drugstore Cowboy,” “Crash,” “Wild Things,” and “Asteroid City,” was chosen for his ability to bring the essence of big Hollywood and a value driven approach to his career. He recently portrayed Marlon Brando in “Being Maria,” which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival.
MCM showcased a NASA film about Mars at its Milan presentation last February and introduced a fall collection featuring silver and ice gray backpacks, moon boots, and sparkly shoes. The campaign highlights the Diamant 3D bag with its substantial zippers, futuristic eyewear, and ready to wear items in MCM’s signature Cognac Visetos canvas or silvery leather.
