Liam and Noel Gallagher have revealed that an Oasis reunion may be taking place after both brothers hinted at an announcement to be made by the band on Tuesday. A short video, designed in the style of Oasis's famous logo, was posted on their social media accounts and the official Oasis page on Sunday. The video first shows the date "27.08.24," which flickers before changing to "8am."
The world of music lovers has been praying for the reunion of this Manchester rock band since it split up in 2009 after the alleged fight backstage at Rock en Seine festival in Paris. The Gallagher brothers might perform for a series of concerts as suggested by the Sunday Times report citing industry sources next year. It is supposed to include Wembley Stadium in London and Heaton Park in Manchester. Another big rumor that has come out is of a probable headline slot at Glastonbury.
Liam Gallagher spent much of Sunday firing off responses to the rumors on X, formerly Twitter, where he expressed his loathing for "FORMER" and shared several news items about the reunion buzz. Partway through his headlining set at Reading Festival Sunday night, he dedicated the Oasis song "Half The World Away" to his brother Noel, before later dedicating "Cigarettes & Alcohol" to everyone "who doesn't like this band.". And at the end of the show, it was exactly the same teaser with the date of Tuesday splashing main screens.
And these sparked a wave of discussion and sent all the fans into a frenzy, raising a storm of emotion from excitement to criticism. One lambasted Heaton Park as being a "terrible venue for concerts," and Liam only had to say, "See you down the front." Another fan asked about the reunion dates, to which he answered the details would be released "next Friday." Bitter sibling pairing Gallagher, whose relationship has been a rollercoaster ride of ups and downs, dramatically ditched the band after the 2009 Parisian backstage bust-up that finally did for Oasis. It's the 30th anniversary of the release of their breakthrough album, "Definitely Maybe," which helped set the Gallaghers on stardom and light the fuse for Britpop.
