On Thursday, June 6, 2024, the young designers from the Higher Centre for Fashion Design at the Polytechnic University of Madrid presented their final collections in Madrid to a jury of industry professionals.
The runway show, titled ‘Opening Night 2024,’ took place at the Ifema Madrid event center, situated on the outskirts of the city. Graduating students showcased a total of 80 looks, created under the mentorship of renowned Spanish fashion figures, including designers Ana Locking, Evangelia Julia, Miguel Becer, and Ernesto Naranjo. The event was coordinated by stylist and CSDMM educator Natalia Bengochea.
The professional jury selected three standout collections from CSDMM designers. Adriana Fernández, whose collection was crafted from recycled materials, was named CSDMM’s top designer for 2024, taking first place.
Enara Rodríguez, with her collection inspired by Cristóbal Balenciaga and his appreciation for oriental fashion and its dark colors, secured second place. Third place was awarded to Pablo Rodríguez, a young designer who created garments using patchwork techniques and finishings.
The judging panel for Opening Night 2024 included Julia González, director of the Madrid trade show MOMAD, Arancha Priede, Business Director at Ifema, Ana Rodríguez, director of Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Madrid , Nacho Aguayo, Creative Director at Tendam Group; Pepa Bueno, Director of the Spanish creators' association ACME, Carmen Melgar, editorial coordinator of Vogue Business Spain; and Marta Rodríguez Solanes, regional corporate and internal communications lead for Southern Europe at H&M.
