Worcester, Massachusetts – Last week, President Donald Trump made an announcement 25% on the entire steel and aluminum commodity. Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey provided a wake-up call that it could affect anyone in the market for a new car, new home, or even a washer or dryer.
It could also affect small business that portrays aluminum, such as Polar Beverages in Worcester. Executive Vice President Chris Crowley reported the major cost has already increased to 20 cents a case in the previous year. It could be an extension of 20 to 40 cents a case.
“It’s actually considerable,” said Crowley. “So, you’re looking at $0.50 a case almost of price increases since early 2024. So that’s, you know, it’s got to be passed on. Everything costs more. Hopefully it’s just a lot of noise and not a lot of action because it’ll be an inflationary impact throughout the entire food supply. Aluminum is a vital part of what we do in America.”
Crowley reported if the president impacts the tariffs on Canada, it would affect them since they earned their carbon dioxide from the country.
