The provisional schedule for the upcoming London Fashion Week (LFW), presented by 1664 Blanc, has been announced, featuring a mix of notable newcomers and prestigious returns. This much anticipated event, set to take place from September 12 to 17, will continue the celebration of LFW’s 40th anniversary.
The British Fashion Council (BFC), the event’s organizer, is emphasizing a cultural approach that aims to spotlight creative and independent communities, reflecting a broader shift in the fashion industry towards inclusivity and innovation.
The spring/summer 2025 lineup is particularly exciting, with young designer Harris Reed making his official debut on the LFW calendar. Reed, who is also the creative director for Nina Ricci, has previously showcased his collections off schedule. He took to Instagram to share his enthusiasm, stating, “After a lot of thought and six shows off schedule, I am extremely honoured to bring my Harris Reed show to the official LFW calendar. Now, more than ever in the fashion industry, the UK needs to celebrate creativity, innovation, sustainability, and its power in showmanship and the arts. Coming together to support, champion, and celebrate the art of fashion is more crucial than ever.”
Reed's inclusion in the official schedule marks a significant milestone in his career and highlights the importance of emerging talent in the fashion industry. His collections are known for their bold and gender fluid designs, which have garnered a dedicated following and critical acclaim.
Joining Reed on the runway are designers such as Patrick McDowell, Michael Stewart’s Standing Ground, Completedworks, and Edeline Lee. Each of these designers has been awarded coveted runway slots, which will provide them with a platform to showcase their latest collections to a global audience. Additionally, Demon Zhang’s Mithridate will join the schedule in a presentation format, allowing for a different kind of creative expression.
The list of returning designers is equally impressive. Kent & Curwen, Nensi Dojaka, and Toga are among those making a comeback, alongside notable regulars such as Burberry, 16Arlington, Ahluwalia, David Koma, Knwls, and Richard Quinn. These established names ensure that LFW will continue to be a major highlight of the international fashion calendar, drawing attention from fashion enthusiasts and industry professionals alike.
The BFC Newgen initiative, which supports emerging designers, is also set to return. This season, it will be hosted at its former home, 180 The Strand, and will feature participants like Chet Lo, Aaron Esh, Harri, and Masha Popova, among many others. The Newgen initiative is crucial for nurturing the next generation of design talent, providing them with the resources and exposure needed to succeed in a highly competitive industry.
The official physical and digital schedule for LFW SS25 will be released in August 2024. This will include further updates, timings, and details of the LFW City Wide Celebration, which aims to engage the broader community in the festivities. The City Wide Celebration will likely feature various fashion related events, exhibitions, and pop ups across London, making fashion more accessible to the public and celebrating the city’s vibrant cultural scene.
In anticipation of LFW SS25, the fashion community is buzzing with excitement. The event promises to be a dynamic blend of established designers and fresh talent, all coming together to celebrate the art of fashion. The inclusion of designers like Harris Reed, who champions creativity, innovation, and sustainability, aligns perfectly with the broader goals of the BFC. As the industry continues to evolve, these themes are becoming increasingly important, driving change and pushing the boundaries of traditional fashion norms.
LFW SS25 is not just about the clothes on the runway; it’s about the ideas, stories, and people behind them. It’s an opportunity for designers to communicate their vision and for audiences to experience the transformative power of fashion. With its rich history and forward looking approach, London Fashion Week remains a cornerstone of the global fashion landscape, and the upcoming season is set to reinforce its position as a leader in creativity and innovation.
As the countdown to September begins, designers, models, fashion enthusiasts, and industry professionals are all gearing up for what promises to be an unforgettable week. The provisional schedule is just a glimpse of what’s to come, and the full lineup in August will provide even more to look forward to.
