Do No Wrong” Release Delayed to Respect Family’s Grieving Process

Liam Payne's New Song Delayed to Honor Family's Mourning

The release of Liam Payne’s new song, Do No Wrong, co written with North Carolina artist Sam Pounds, has been postponed as a mark of respect to Payne’s family following his tragic passing. Sam Pounds, who had initially set the release date for Friday, 1 November, announced the decision to delay, stating that he wanted to give Payne’s family “space to mourn in peace.” The 31 year old former One Direction member passed away on 16 October after a tragic fall from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires.

Honoring a Legacy Amid Grief

In a statement on Tuesday, Pounds acknowledged the importance of timing, emphasizing his decision to delay the song's release to honor Payne’s memory. He shared, “Even though we all love the song, it’s not the time yet. We are all still mourning the passing of Liam, and I want the family to mourn in peace and in prayer.” He further pledged that any proceeds from Do No Wrong would be allocated to a charity chosen by Payne's family, allowing the track to become a lasting tribute to Payne’s legacy.

Fans and supporters have praised Pounds' decision, with many expressing gratitude for his sensitivity to the family’s grieving process. "There will be a right time for it in the future," one fan remarked, acknowledging the poignancy of the gesture.

An Artistic Collaboration Full of Sentiment

Leading up to the planned release, Pounds shared intimate studio moments on social media, including footage of Payne collaborating on the song, filmed by Payne’s sister, Ruth. He also unveiled artwork for the track, depicting an angel and a broken black heart symbolic of Payne’s impact and the collective sorrow following his untimely passing. In a heartfelt message on social media, Pounds wrote, "I pray that this will be a blessing to the world like Liam has always dreamed."

Payne, who leaves behind his seven year old son Bear, shared with former partner Cheryl, had seen a resurgence in his musical legacy since his passing. Following the news of his death, all five One Direction albums re entered the UK’s top 40 charts, a testament to Payne’s enduring impact on fans worldwide.

Remembering a Star Lost Too Soon

After departing from One Direction, Payne experienced solo success, collaborating on top 10 singles with artists like Rita Ora and Quavo. His recent solo release, Teardrops, reached number 85 on the charts earlier this year. Payne’s passing remains under investigation by Argentina's Public Prosecutor’s Office, as officials examine the circumstances surrounding his accidental fall.

As fans and family alike honor his memory, Do No Wrong may one day serve as a beautiful homage, capturing Payne's essence through the music he loved. Sam Pounds’ compassionate decision to delay the song allows space for collective mourning and preserves the song's potential as a heartfelt tribute when the time feels right.
