Iconic Schumacher Signed Ferrari Model Up for Auction

A remote controlled car modeled after Michael Schumacher's 2002 world championship Ferrari, and signed by the F1 legend, is set to go under the hammer at Silverstone. This impressive piece is expected to fetch between £150,000 and £200,000 at auction.

High Performance and Detailed Craftsmanship

The 1:3 scale replica, weighing 32kg (71lb), took over three years and more than 1,000 hours to build. According to Graham Budd Auctions, the winning bidder could race the car at speeds exceeding 80km/h (50mph), although a full training session would be necessary before using it. Adam Gascoigne, the auction house's chief executive, stated that the item is "as close to a genuine Formula 1 car as you can get".

Schumacher's Endorsement

Michael Schumacher, who had a dominant season for Ferrari in 2002, achieving a podium position in all 17 races and winning a then record 11 Grands Prix, signed the replica car during a visit to the factory in Switzerland where it was made. Schumacher was reportedly "thrilled and really impressed" by the intricate design and craftsmanship of the model.

Auction Details and Additional Memorabilia

Mr. Gascoigne mentioned that the car's intricate build requires "a team of engineers" to start it and a "proper track" to race it on. While the estimated price is between £150,000 and £200,000, he noted that it's challenging to put a price on such a unique item. The auction, taking place on 4 July to coincide with the start of the British GP weekend, will also feature other F1 memorabilia, including a race suit signed by Max Verstappen, a helmet worn by Rubens Barrichello, and a track suit top signed by Ayrton Senna. All items will be available for bidding both online and in person.
