Benfica midfielder Paulo Bernardo is set to make a permanent move to Celtic within "a matter of hours," according to manager Brendan Rodgers. The 22 year old, who spent last season on loan with the Scottish champions, had an option to buy in his loan agreement. However, negotiations over the transfer fee have delayed the finalization of the deal since the end of the season.

Rodgers confirmed to Sky Sports, "He is due to have a medical, so hopefully all will go well with that." Denmark midfielder Matt O'Riley has attracted interest from Atalanta and Southampton this summer. Southampton's manager, Russell Martin, has publicly expressed his admiration for the 23 year old, with whom he previously worked at MK Dons. Despite the interest, Rodgers emphasized, "No player will leave here unless it is for the right valuation, and at this moment in time, no team has come close to that."

Rodgers remains confident about O'Riley's commitment ahead of Sunday's Scottish Premiership opener against Kilmarnock. "It has been straightforward with Matt because he is such a great professional," he said. He added that teams often undervalue players in the Scottish league compared to other leagues, but emphasized the importance of receiving fair compensation for any departing players.

Celtic is also awaiting a decision on Adam Idah's future. The 23 year old striker has returned to Norwich City after his loan spell with Celtic last season. He was excluded from Norwich's friendly against Hoffenheim for disciplinary reasons, having reported late for a team flight. Rodgers commented, "Adam is a Norwich player. He did fantastic with us last season, and we'll see what happens in the coming weeks."

Rodgers acknowledged that Celtic still has significant work to do in the transfer market to strengthen the squad before the summer window closes.
