Sabrina Carpenter, the Pennsylvania born pop sensation, has made UK chart history, becoming the first female artist to simultaneously hold the number one and two positions on the singles chart for three consecutive weeks. According to the Official Charts Company, Carpenter's single "Please Please Please" retained its top spot, while her previous hit "Espresso" maintained its hold at number two.

This remarkable achievement places Carpenter in a distinguished league; only The Beatles, Justin Bieber, and Ed Sheeran have managed similar feats. "Espresso" slightly outperformed "Please Please Please" in streams last week, garnering 7.1 million plays compared to 7 million for the top spot holder. Both tracks will feature on her upcoming album "Short ‘n Sweet," set for an August release.

The music video for "Please Please Please," featuring Carpenter's boyfriend, actor Barry Keoghan, has amassed over 44 million views on YouTube, with "Espresso" nearly doubling that number. Carpenter joins Madonna (1985) and Ariana Grande (2019) as the only female artists to hold the top two chart positions simultaneously, though she is the first to do so for three consecutive weeks.

In other chart news, Missouri singer Chappell Roan achieved her first top five hit as "Good Luck, Babe!" climbed to number four.

Glastonbury Boosts Album Sales

Taylor Swift's "The Tortured Poets Department" secured an eighth non consecutive week atop the album chart, becoming the best selling album of the year with over 542,000 chart units since its April release. Swift's successful Eras tour continues in Amsterdam this weekend and will return to London in August for five additional dates.

US rock band Imagine Dragons entered the album chart at number five with their latest release "Loom," marking their sixth top 10 entry.

Performances at the recent Glastonbury Festival provided significant sales boosts for several artists. Dua Lipa’s "Radical Optimism" surged from number 27 to number three following her headline set, with two of her earlier albums re entering the top 10. Sunday headliner SZA saw her 2023 album "SOS" jump 11 places to number 19.

Shania Twain's greatest hits album re entered the top 40 for the first time since 2005, rising 62 places to number 29 after her Sunday afternoon Legends Slot performance. Additionally, Coldplay's new track "feelslikeimfallinginlove" climbed to a new peak of number 16 on the singles chart, spurred by their headline set on Saturday.
