Social Media Cats Roar in Support of England Ahead of Euros Final
Hundreds of England fans have been sharing images of their cats "roaring" ahead of the Euros final later today. This trend started after Swiss fans were seen holding a sign at the quarterfinals suggesting the England squad were more like three kittens than Three Lions.
England secured a victory over Switzerland with a 5 3 win on penalties during the match on July 6 and are set to play Spain in the final. In a show of support, Robb Corrigan initiated a social media campaign using the hashtag Cats Roar For England, featuring his pet cat Rolf.
Rolf, better known as Rolf the Warwick University cat, boasts tens of thousands of followers online. His post has garnered thousands of views and inspired hundreds of pet owners to join the trend. Notably, the campaign has even attracted participation from Larry, the Downing Street cat, and Gladstone, the Treasury mog.
Although Mr. Corrigan acknowledges, "In truth, these are mostly yawns, but they look like roars," the images continue to captivate and amuse England fans as they rally behind their team.
