Southampton are on the verge of naming Ivan Juric as their new manager, agreeing to an 18 month contract. The 49 year old Croatian is set to succeed Russell Martin, who was dismissed following a crushing 5-0 defeat to Tottenham on Sunday.
Juric, who most recently managed Roma, was relieved of his duties in November after just 12 matches at the helm. If appointed, this will mark his first managerial role outside of Italy.
The deal reportedly includes a break clause next summer, providing flexibility for both parties. Club insiders revealed that Juric had been a contender for the managerial position in November 2022, alongside Ralph Hasenhüttl, before Nathan Jones was ultimately selected.
Southampton are said to be seeking a manager who can instill discipline and stability in the squad, particularly after their heavy loss to Spurs. However, Juric is unlikely to be in charge for this weekend’s Premier League clash against Fulham on Sunday at 14:00 GMT.
Currently sitting at the bottom of the Premier League table, the Saints are nine points adrift of safety, having secured just one victory so far this season.
