Sports Ministry Approves Neeraj Chopra's Two Month European Training Camp with Coach and Physio

The ministry of sports has approved a 60 day training programme in Europe for reigning Olympic and World Champion Neeraj Chopra, featuring Klaus Bartonietz, his coach, and Ishaan Marwaha, physiotherapist, this will enable him prepare for the forthcoming Paris games. Vinesh Phogat’s proposal to include strength and conditioning coach Wayne Patrick Lombard during an international training camp in Hungary from June 10 to 21 was also sanctioned by the Ministry’s Mission Olympic cell.


Between May 29 and July28, Neeraj Chopra who secured India’s first ever track and field Olympic medal in Tokyo will be practicing at different venues across Europe. The Sports Authority of India has confirmed that all expenses such as airfare, accommodation food medical insurance local transport out of pocket allowance will be covered.


Vinesh Phogat will get assistance with Lombard’s airfare visa fee board lodging local transport in Hungary since she is going to fight her way through in the category of 50 kg division Paris. She will also participate in United World Wrestling 2nd Ranking Series Polyak Imre & Varga Janos Memorial scheduled to take place between June 6 to 9 at Budapest. Additionally, MOC allowed her travel support team comprising of physiotherapist Ashwini Jeevan Patil for GP Spain at Madrid from July 5to7 Ashwini Jeevan Patil on board Ghana Airways flight GF76 originally scheduled to depart at exactly twelve noon.


Moreover, her extension of the Long jumper Shaili Singh’s training camp in Europe until June 23 was granted enabling her to train in Lisbon, Paris, Athens and Geneva with coach Bobby George. Similarly, shotgun shooters Rajeshwari Kumari and Maheshwari Chauhan were also cleared to travel with their personal coaches to a training camp in Italy in June. Her coach David Kostelecky will accompany Rajeshwari to ISSF World Cup in Lonato from June 1 to 14 while from May 31to June 11 Maheshwari’s coach Riccardo Fillipelli is going to train her and participate in Lonato World Cup from June 12to 19.


The MOC also approved financial support for HS Prannoy, the bronze medallist at the Badminton Tournament during Hangzhou Asian Games of 2022, for engaging trainer Rohan George Mathews from June 20 to July 22 in Hyderabad besides availing recovery services like Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy and Red Light Therapy.


Other clearance given by MOC included sanctioning Maisnam Meiraba and Anupama Upadhyay  for International tournaments, Atanu Das two months training at Army Sports Institute Pune along Mim Gurung Coaching Services, Sarath Lal sailor Vishnu Saravanan physiotherapist  hiring for forty days’ service in Marseille and Ashok para powerlifter wheelchair.
