Obama's Endorsement of Kamala Harris

Barack Obama has officially endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic presidential nominee, concluding days of speculation about his support. In a joint statement, former President Obama and ex First Lady Michelle Obama emphasized Harris's "vision, character, and strength" as essential for the current political climate. This endorsement follows President Joe Biden's announcement of his withdrawal from the race, after which Harris secured the backing of over 100 prominent Democrats, including Obama.

Kamala Harris's Campaign Momentum

With Biden's exit, Harris has swiftly gained the majority support of Democratic delegates, positioning her as the likely nominee for the party convention in August. The Obamas expressed their enthusiasm in endorsing Harris, committing to actively support her campaign. They highlighted her extensive experience as California’s attorney general, a US senator, and vice president, underscoring her qualifications and readiness to lead.

Republican Response and Campaign Activities

In response to Harris's campaign, Republican nominee Donald Trump has criticized her, labelling her as a "radical left Marxist" on his social media platform. Meanwhile, Harris continues her campaign efforts, addressing key issues and rallying support. At a recent event in Houston, she criticized Republican policies, advocating for measures like banning assault weapons. Harris also discussed international concerns, including the conflict in Gaza, stressing the importance of a two state solution in conversations with Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu.
