Worcester, Massachusetts — UMass Memorial Medical Center had cut the ribbon on the North Pavilion Acute-Care Facility and they would be admitting the first patient this month. On Monday, January 7, 378 Plantation Street in Worcester reached the landmark UMass Memorial Health extending 72 patient beds to their system as the recent building opened.

UMass is responding to the opening of the North Pavillion acute-cute facility a significant milestone in their commitment to plan in the health care in the Worcester Community. Attendees had an opportunity to visit the facility, in which they appeared to advanced technology and comfortable spaces to address patients providing their proper treatment and experience.

The North Pavilion would arrange the updated hospital bed shortage in Massachusetts to extend inpatient capacity, UMass reported there would be a lot of things that need to be improved. Dr. Eric Dickson, MD, a UMass Memorial Health CEO and President made the statement on Worcester Spectrum News about this issue.

“Right now, this second, I checked before I came over, there's 77 patients waiting for a bed," said Dickson. "So, for five of them, we won't have space come a couple of weeks. But we are excited that we'll be able to get some of those patients out of the emergency department and here.”

UMass Memorial Center President Justin Precourt explained the important role of the hospital-resident area in the Worcester Area in Massachusetts. Justin Precourt also addressed the system to provide the patient’s medical needs.

“You know, Worcester County, Central Massachusetts is one of the most under bedded areas of the state," said Precourt. "Yet we're also one of the only areas of the state that continues to grow. This building will help address those needs that we face each and every day."

Precourt reported that they confirmed that this brand-new North Pavilion would not address the issue of their hospital bed situation, however, it would create a significant influence for the Worcester area.
