Tottenham Hotspur has completed the signing of midfielder Archie Gray from Leeds United for approximately £30 million, while defender Joe Rodon will move to Leeds in a deal valued at around £10 million. Gray has committed to a contract with Spurs until 2030. Leeds United stated that Tottenham triggered a release clause in Gray's contract, which was activated by Leeds' failure to secure promotion at the first attempt.

The transfer is expected to ensure that Leeds remains compliant with profit and sustainability regulations. Following their defeat to Southampton in the Championship play off final, which cost them promotion, Leeds were compelled to sell players.

Tottenham managed to secure 18 year old Gray, who featured in 52 matches across all competitions for Leeds last season, playing both in midfield and at right back. Gray had initially started a medical examination at Brentford's training ground, but the Bees' bid, which was similar in value to Spurs' offer, was rejected by Leeds due to issues with the payment structure and add ons.

Gray, an England Under 21 international who also qualifies to play for Scotland, is the great nephew of Leeds legend Eddie Gray. Leeds expressed their deep regret over the teenager's transfer, acknowledging the disappointment of losing a homegrown talent and a family name closely associated with the club.

Leeds United stated: "While we understand the supporters' disappointment in losing such a homegrown talent, the move enhances the club’s ability to compete for automatic promotion next season by increasing our capacity to build a competitive squad within the league’s financial control regulations."

The club also conveyed their sadness in seeing Gray depart and thanked him for his efforts and professionalism. Meanwhile, Wales international Rodon, who was on loan at Leeds last season, has signed a four year contract with the club.
