Empowerment through Education in Sri Lanka
As Nelson Mandela once said, "Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world." Education in Sri Lanka continues to act as the primary means for solving global ills. Despite decades of free education, only about 25% of A'level students in future they will be graduate; get admitted to state universities every year. The rest, who usually are left to seek private sector education, find it very unaffordable. This skewed balance raises questions of the efficacy of the present system. However, there is now an opportunity for students to make their educational dreams come true in an affordable and flexible way.
The Chiththa Advanced Psychological Studies Open Institute of Sri Lanka (CAPSOISL), founded in 2020, as the "World's First Open Institute for Psychology Studies". The institute has a distinctive mission of facilitating accessible, affordable, and quality education to all. CAPSOISL follows an educational model different from any other conventional educational institute in Sri Lanka. Here, students are given more flexibility with time to pursue their studies with their employment and personal responsibilities.
The institute is registered under the Companies Act No. 07 of 2007 and awaits recognition as an accredited higher education provider through a parliamentary Act Bill in Sri Lanka. During this period, CAPSOISL has acquired affiliations with several highly recognized international institutions, namely:
-Skill Development Council of Canada
- International Practitioners of Holistic Medicine (UK)
- American Council of Training and Development (USA)
- International Association of Applied Psychology (USA)
- Australian and New Zealand Mental Health Organization
Dr. Javith Jalill Profile
At the tender age of 23 years, established the CAPSOISL with the key mission of democratizing higher education. Though young in age, she is the youngest Clinical Psychology Consultant and a Consultant Physician in Traditional Medicine. It is here that her aspiration to make education accessible created CAPSOISL, where equal opportunity is provided for all rather than selected few due to financial constraint.
Her entrepreneurial drive and commitment to social welfare have placed her among the youngest and most acknowledged women leaders in the education sector in Sri Lanka. The CAPSOISL is a non-commercial venture. It is a nonprofit-making institution with the sole purpose of social impact and ensuring education for all.

This unique system cuts off the rigidity that is conventionally felt when using Zoom for lectures and shifts the prerogative of what learning schedule to implement into the hands of the students.
A Modern, Flexible Learning Experience
What makes CAPSOISL different is the flexibility. The lectures are online, pre-recorded videos, and so the students can prefer to them at a time and place convenient for them. This is a modern methodology for distance learning for the first time in Sri Lanka; busy professionals like doctors and lawyers can continue with further studies.
In addition, the teacher-student relationship service provided by CAPSOISL is available 24/7, and students can receive help and support in every part of the world instantly. The innovative model encourages higher learning among many that have not been able to participate in higher learning either due to financial or time constraints.
Future Expansion
Dr. Javith Jalill ambitiously envisions expanding CAPSOISL courses to become available at an international level. The institute is committed to opening its doors to students throughout the world through the addition of more courses that will be very affordable and flexible, suiting the student's requirements. Available on all major social networking sites by the name "CAPSOISL," a prospective student would find it quite easy to know about available courses.
