Australian born Courtney Winfield Hill has been appointed to England's coaching team for the upcoming winter tour of South Africa and the Women's Ashes in Australia.

Winfield Hill began her sporting career in domestic cricket in Australia before transitioning to rugby league after relocating to the UK. She later represented England at the 2022 Rugby League World Cup. Following her retirement, she returned to cricket as a coach, working within England’s player pathways, the Hundred with Trent Rockets, the Women's Big Bash League (WBBL), and the Women’s Premier League in India.

Winfield Hill, who is married to England wicketkeeper batter Lauren Winfield Hill, has been actively involved in coaching roles since her playing days ended. She previously worked with the England team during their September tour of Ireland and is currently coaching Brisbane Heat in the WBBL.

Reflecting on her journey, Winfield Hill said:

“Since working with England teams, I have felt nothing but welcomed. The ECB has been instrumental in supporting my development as a coach.”

Once her commitments with Brisbane Heat conclude, Winfield Hill will join England for their multi format tour of South Africa, starting on 24 November, followed by the Women’s Ashes, beginning in January.

England’s Director of Women’s Cricket, Jonathan Finch, praised her contributions, stating:

“Courtney has played a pivotal role in developing emerging players within our international pathway. She brings a fresh perspective to the coaching team, ensuring our player support continues to evolve during this exciting period for the senior team.”
