Worcester, Massachusetts - The entire country, Vietnam veterans, and their communities combined for coordinated wreath-laying ceremonies on Thursday (April 25), which Vietnam Veterans of America organized.

In Worcester, over 12 veterans presented at the Massachusetts Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Green Hill Park.

“Vietnam veterans did not give up on each other, carrying the burden of physical and mental scars, you soldiered on,” said Jim Benton. “You gave back to the community, and played a pivotal role in building our nation.”

Wreaths were laid to rest at memorials entire the United States of America at 3 pm, and Worcester’s director of veterans services, Dr. Joe Robinson, reported the city has also been taking the next steps to ensure the stories of those who lost their lives in Vietnam continue to be heard.

“In our office, we like to say that every monument, every stone throughout the city has a story to tell, and we are implementing a program where we have QR codes on every monument,” Robinson said. “You can scan the QR code, and you can see the story behind the individual that lost their life.”

Adam Costello, become very appointed as Worcester’s assistant director of veterans services, reported the crowd that veterans supported him in finding his life, and those veterans also demonstrated to be quite useful for future generations of soldiers to come home.

“What they did was they paved the way for us that served in the later wars to actually be able to use our benefits and get healthcare for toxic exposures, and a lot of them went on to serve as schoolteachers and other community members,” said Costello.

The city’s Veterans Services Division made arrangements for a recognition of the Borinqueneers on Sunday, April 25, 2025, at the Korean War Memorial on Foster Street at 3 pm.
